We all need time to recharge our batteries. The stress of work, family, and social obligations can really add up if you’re not careful. 5. Clean the House
Some people swear cleaning helps them reduce stress. In reality, the constant movement more than likely allows their heart rate to increase while their mind focuses on something else. However, cleaning your house isn’t the actual stress reducer. It’s what comes after it. A de-cluttered home gives your mind fewer items to focus on. There’s a reason why areas dedicated to meditation and relaxation are sparse of objects and decorations. It takes away areas for you to focus on and stress out about. So the next time you put off cleaning the house, just remember, it will help reduce your stress levels later on.
It’s also recommended to carry this over to your work environment. Keep your office area clean and organized. This will help you calm your mind and reduce anxiety while at work.
6. Go For a Walk

Sometimes there’s really nothing you can do about stress. It comes in waves. When at work you can’t go outside and scream into a pillow or drop everything for a 90-minute walk. However, you can chew a piece of gum. Chewing gum helps improve blood flow in the brain, which gives you a better control over emotions. It also helps boost your level of calmness. So it’s worth keeping some gum on hand for those extra stressful days.
8. Write It Out
Keeping a journal often falls by the wayside as we grow older. For whatever reason, we see it as juvenile. However, there are a number of health benefits behind writing in a journal. By writing out what’s causing you to stress you give your brain the ability to physically see it written down. This also allows your brain to process the information differently. In fact, you may just realize how silly something is to stress over when you read it out loud and see it printed out.
You don’t need to keep what you write out. In some instances, writing out what is causing stress and ripping it up, burning it, shredding it or just throwing it away can prove therapeutic. Whatever you do with it, consider writing out what’s bringing you stress.
9. Solid Sack Time
It’s time to up your sleep game. Your bed should be there for two things: sleep and sex. Take the mental distractions away. Remove the television and put your phone on a nightstand. These screens reduce your quality of sleep, which increases your chance of becoming irritable during the day.
